Thank you for your support! Below are referral links to services we actually use. We do receive a small reward when you sign up/use the service.
Credit Cards
Chase Sapphire Preferred (Points)
- Offer: Earn 60k points after spending $4k in the first 3 months
- Annual fee: $95
- Points:
- 1x on everyday purchases
- 2x on travel
- 3x on dining/streaming services/online groceries
- 10% annual bonus (All the points accumulated over the last 12 months are multiplied by 10% and added to the point balance)
- Why we love: It earns transferable points. We can transfer them to different airlines and hotel programs to take free flights and redeem for hotel night stays. In full transparency, we only use it for airline travel.
Chase British Airways (Points) (Not a referral link)
- Offer: Earn 75k points after spending $5k in the first 3 months
- Annual fee: $95
- Points:
- 1x on everything
- 2x on hotels purchased through BA
- 3x on BA/Aer Lingus, and Iberia flights
- Up to $600 statement credit per year when booking BA flights
- Free companion pass after spending $30k in a calendar year
- Why we love: Over 200 destinations (locally and internationally), travel together companion pass, and statement credits when booking flights with them. British Airways (BA) also partners with American Airlines, so we can book BA flights that American Airlines flies.
Chase Freedom Unlimited (Cash Back/Points)
- Offer: Earn $250 (25k points) after spending $500 in the first 3 months
- Annual fee: $0
- Rewards:
- 1.5% everywhere
- 3% dining/drug stores
- Why we love: 1.5% on everyday purchases and a $0 annual fee, which is better than the 1x on the Sapphire Preferred card for everyday purchases. It is primarily a cashback card, but because we also have the Sapphire Preferred, we can transfer the rewards to the Sapphire Preferred ($1 = 1 point). That allows us to accumulate even more points for free airline travel.
Cashback Portals and Extensions
We have the browser extension for all of these. As we shop, we see which one has the highest cashback amount and use that one.
- Why we love: Cash/purchases are credited to account quickly. Customer service is very fast if a transaction doesn’t credit. Support a huge range of stores. Pays out quarterly to PayPal.
- Why we love: Offers higher cash back compared to Rakuten. Can cash out at any point in time to either a bank account, PayPal, or gift cards (with an additional 1 to 5% bonus).
- Why we love: Besides offering cashback like Rakuten and Top Cash Back, it also automatically applies coupons, provides notifications when prices drop, and shows price history so you can know if it is really on sale. Can cash out at any point in time with as little as a dollar to PayPal.
Discount Gift Cards
- Offer: Receive a $5 off when signing up.
- Why we love: We primarily buy physical gift cards from CardCash. Shipping is free, unlike GiftCards.com. We can also use Rakuten or Top Cash Back to get additional cashback.
- Offer: Receive a $5 off when signing up.
- Why we love: We buy digital gift cards from GCX. They are delivered super quickly and have a huge range of stores. Doesn’t work with Rakuten or Top Cash Back though.
GiftCards.com (Not a referral link)
- Why we love: GiftCards.com has a huge range of gift cards from physical to digital. They also work with cashback portals. Periodically, we can also get 10% off gift cards to giftcards.com, which can then be used to purchase other gift cards on giftcards.com. They do charge a shipping fee for physical gift cards.
Cell Phone
- Offer: $60 credit when you join Google Fi Wireless
- Why we love:
- Savings: We went from paying $147 a month to $93 a month, for two lines, for unlimited data and 5 GBs worth of hot spot data (the ability to connect your laptop to your phone).
- Coverage: We have better coverage than our previous big name carrier
- Compatibility: Works with both Android and iPhone. Anna’s mom uses an iPhone and we had no problem switching her over.
- Plans: When we added Anna’s mom to our plan, our cost only went up by $10 compared to the $74 she was paying.
Data Deletion
- Offer: 20% off your first subscription
- Why we love: We were constantly getting letters saying, sorry, we lost your data… Our bad, but before that happened, we made a ton of money by selling it to advertisers. Thanks for generating a bunch of cash for us. So, we signed up for DeleteMe. They proactively monitor data brokers, companies that store and sell our data to advertisers, and request to remove our data when it is found. Within one month, they found Adam’s information at 84 data brokers and Anna’s information at 80 data brokers. They then submitted requests to have the information removed. DeleteMe also offers disposable phone numbers and throw-away email addresses.
